The Northern Ireland Housing Executive and Derry City Council have been called to initiate a clean-up operation for the wider Galliagh area with priority being given to Altcar Park, Fern Park and Linear Park.
The call comes from Sinn Fein Cllr Elisha McCallion who said some areas of Galliagh were in urgent need of a clean-up programme.
She added: “I am calling on the Housing Executive to consider a scheme for Fern Park, Altcar and the Linear Park. Such schemes would entail fence painting, litter picking, grass cutting and other mechanisms to improve these areas.”
Cllr McCallion said A revamp of the area would make a “world of difference.’
She concluded: “I would urge the Housing Executive and Derry City Council to work in partnership to ensure that all the neighbourhoods are looking their best.”
