Derry’s senior hurlers bounced back from their opening day defeat by Kerry in the Allianz National Hurling League Division 2A to hammer Westmeath in Mullingar this afternoon.
Leading a 14-man Westmeath at half-time by 2-08 to 0-04, Derry added a further goal and three minutes in the second half for a comfortable victory on a scoreline of 3-11 to 0-08 over their hosts who ended the game with 13 men.
The result will have delighted Derry manager Ger Rogan following last week’s heavy defeat to Kerry.
