A 31-year-old Derry man has been returned for trial charged in connection with the discovery of pipe bomb, guns and ammunition in the city last year.
Nathan Hastings (21), a telecommunications employee from Stradowen Drive in Strathfoyle, is charged with having a pipe bomb with intent to endanger life.
He is further charged with possession of a self-loading pistol, a revolver, 31 12-bore shotgun cartridges, 138 assorted cartridges and 95 modified blank firing cartridges with intent to endanger life.
At a preliminary inquiry at Derry Magistrates Court this morning, a PSNI officer, who had been granted anonymity and giving evidence from behind a screen, told the court the discovery was made in one of two cars stopped during an intelligence-led operation on Northland Road on 12 April.
Ruling the accused had a prima facie case to answer, District Magistrate Barney McElholm remanded Hastings in custody to appear at Belfast Crown Court on a date to be fixed.
