Work has started on a new £75,000 cycle path in Magherafelt, Co Derry.
Up to 480 metres of combined footway/cycleway will be constructed at Castledawson Road in the town as part of the scheme which is expected to last for four weeks.
Announcing the project, Regional Develpoment Minister Danny Kennedy said the cycle path would address the “missing link” between Pound Road at Magherafelt town boundary and the “excellent” facility provided at Aghagaskin Road last year.
He added: “Cycling continues to grow in popularity across Northern Ireland, both as a means of commuting to work and for leisure.”
Mr Kennedy concluded: “I am committed to delivering more schemes such as this one in Magherafelt, which are designed to encourage more people to try cycling in a safe and enjoyable environment.”
