The manager of a Derry charity set up to support adults with learning disabilities has spoke of his “shock” at the abuse inflicted on residents at Ralphs Close residential care home.
Dermot O’Hara, a founding member of Destined, called on health care workers to ensure incidents of abuse were “fully reported.
Mr O’Hara said: “I am shocked that supposed health care professionals can inflict such abuse on vulnerable people.
“It is good to see that the Trust moved quickly to put the appropriate systems in place to prevent any further abuse.”
He concluded: “We call on health care workers to ensure that this type of abuse is not accepted and that any further incidents are fully reported.”
