An overnight security alert in Ballykelly in Co Derry has been declared an “elaborate hoax.”
Police sealed off an area at Carnamuff Road following the discovery of two suspect devices late yesterday afternoon.
British army technical officers have removed the objects for further forensic examination.
A number of families who had been moved out of their homes have been allowed to return.
A PSNI spokeperson said enquiries were continuing and appealed to anyone who saw anything suspicious in the Carnamuff Road area over the last few days to contact them at Limavady police station, telephone 0845 600 8000.
The spokesperson added: “Or if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
