The main A6 Derry to Belfast road has reopened following this morning’s two-car collision which claimed the life of an elderly man.
William Stinson (83) died in Altnagelvin Hospital as a result of injuries sustained in the collision which occurred around 11.15am close to the Belfry Country Inn on the Glenshane Road just outside of Derry.
A woman, who was also taken to hospital, is receiving treatment for non life-threatening injuries sustained in the crash which involved a BMW X1 and a Chevrolet.
Police had closed a section of the road to allow a detailed technical examination of the scene.
