A local councillor has blown the whistle on the vandalism of dog foul waste boxes in the city.
Sinn Fein Councillor Colly Kelly was speaking after the destruction of recently installed dog waste boxes at a walkway between Forest Park and Glenowen.
He said “Local residents are deeply disappointed that the recently installed dog waste boxes have been vandalised. One of the boxes was actually pulled from the ground.
“Residents were alarmed at the problem of dog fouling in the area, the health dangers it presented and the image it was creating for responsible pet owners.
“I lobbied on their behalf for the these boxes and now this happens.”
Cllr Kelly concluded: “I would appeal for these attacks to stop we all know the dangers of dog fouling.”
