The incident happened in the early hours of this morning when the officers spotted a northern registered Toyota Celica which had earlier been reported stolen in Bridgend across the border in Co. Donegal.The PSNI said the stolen car was reversed into a police car in the Caw area of the city at about 4.00am causing damage to the front of the vehicle.
As officers approached the car it was driven at them and drove over the foot of one of the officers who did not suffer injury.
They said the Toyota drove off towards Limavady Road following the incident.
