Millennium Forum board member Mary McKenna has collected her MBE awarded to her in the New Year Honours List for services to digital technology, innovation and learning.
A commercial accountant by profession, Mary’s career has been wide and varied.
She has been a board member of the Millennium Forum and Derry Theatre Trust for over ten years.
Martin Bradley, Millennium Forum Board chairperson, said everyone at the Forum and Derry Theatre Trust were delighted for Mary as it was a “huge achievement.”
He added: “Not only has Mary excelled in the digital market and industry, she voluntarily devotes her time to the theatre and the trust and we are pleased she has gained recognition for her remarkable work.”
Mary has worked globally with high tech businesses and is the chairperson of Learning Pool an organisation that creates and shares online learning content across the public sector.
For the last three years she has also chaired Digital Circle, the representative body for 1,600 people across the digital economy in Northern Ireland.
He has also been involved in Digital Derry, an initiative in Derry to develop a centre of digital creativity around digital story-telling and cultural technologies.
Mary is also a trustee of the Social Care Institute for Excellence (SCIE) Board, fundraising advisor for ICAP, the Mental Health Charity for Irish people living in Britain.
