The driver who was injured by a gang of teenagers who hijacked his car in the Carnhill area of Derry in the early hours of this morning was 75 years old, it has emerged.
The man’s son has made an impassioned appeal to find those responsible.
In a message posted on Facebook, he reveals his father was beaten and kicked about the head.
The man sustained cuts and bruising to his face in the incident which occurred outside the man’s home at around 1.30am.
The car, a blue Toyota Starlet, was reported 15 minutes later being driven with three males on board in Benview Estate in Coshquin where it was abandoned.
Police have appealed for anyone with information to contact them.
The hijackers are described as being around 17 years old, approximately 5’9″ tall and were all wearing jeans.
One wore a dark coloured Superdry coat, one a white jacket and the third a multi coloured top with a white hood.
