A 36-year-old Derry man has been returned for trial charged with setting fire to a flat in the city with intent to endanger the life of its owner.
Alan Luukas, from Foyle Park, is charged with setting fire to a ground floor flat in Baronet Street on a date unknown between 7 and 10 August last year.
Luukas replied “not at this stage” when asked if he had anything to say to the charge when he appeared at a preliminary enquiry at Derry Magistrates Court.
Defence solicitor, Paddy McDermott, told the court he accepted his client had a “case to answer.”
Luukas was remanded in custody to appear for arraignment at Derry Crown Court on 27 March next.
