HARPS OPEN NEW LEAGUE CAMPAIGN WITH HOME DRAW AGAINST WATERFORD

finnharpsFinn Harps have opened the new league season with a share of the spoils in a 0-0 draw with Waterford Utd at Finn Park.

In a gritty affair, no less than seven yellow cards were shown by referee Simon Rogers.

New signing Ruairi Keating had the best chance of the game to snatch three points for new boss Ollie Horgan in the 60th minute.

Keating looked odds-on to score from close range at the back post from a Carel Tiofack corner but shot wide.

Packie Mailey also had a shot deflected over the Waterford bar.

Brian Nolan and Jack Doherty also had chances for the visitors in a game which did not boast an array of chances for either side.

There was a minute silence at the start of the game out of respect of the late John Campbell Jnr, son of former Harps chairman John Campbell who was tragically killed recently.
