Two men were arrested following a hijacking of a van in Derry this morning.
The driver of had to received hospital treatment for facial injuries sustained in the incident which occurred at De Burgh Terrace shortly after 10.00am.
He was assaulted after he was approached by two men who drove off in his Peugeot Partner van.
The vehicle was set on fire after it was involved in a collision at Groarty Road a short time later.
Two men, both aged 20, were arrested and both are in custody assisting police with their enquiries.
The driver of the van was taken to Altnagelvin Hospital for treatment to a suspected broken cheek bone.
Police have appealed for anyone with information to contact them.
