Yesterday’s early morning pipe bomb attacks on Romanian migrant workers in Derry’s Waterside must be fully investigated and those responsible must be prosecuted, Sinn Féin Waterside election candidate Christopher Jackson has said.
Nine people, including a child, escaped injury when devices exploded outside two houses at Lapwing Way and Lincoln Court in the Clooney area at around 1.35am,
Police said both incidents were linked and they were treating them as “hate crimes.”
Calling for the attacks to be fully investigated, Mr Jackson said there was not place in society for “hate crimes.”
He said: “Hate crimes have no place in our society and must be faced down wherever it rears its head.
“These attacks must be investigated to the fullest and those responsible must brought before the courts.”
The SDLP, DUP and UKIP have also condemned the attacks.
