Trailing by five points at half-time, Derry bounced back in the second period and can consider themselves unlucky not to come away from Leeside with at least a draw, the Oakleafers missing several chances in the second 35 to keep their unbeaten record intact.

Late first half goals by Sean Leo McGoldrick and Mark Lynch saw Derry trail by five points at the end of the first half, during which the visitors were 1-05 to no score after 12 minutes.

Derry came out fighting in the second period, Enda Lynn opening  the scoring with a point.

Both sides exchanged points before Enda Lynch found the back of the net.

Lynch also had a goal ruled out, the referee awarding a free to Cork.

Derry wasted several good scoring opportunities before coming back to within a point with a minute remaining.

Fergal Doherty missed the last chance to the of the game to bring the visitors level when his effort went narrowly wide.
