Points from Sean Leo McGoldrick and Mark Lynch brought the Oak Leaf County into the game before they were rocked by by a second Cork goal.
Late goals from Enda Lynch and Emmett McGuckin reduced the deficit at half time.
Derry have it all to do in the second half against a Cork side which has won all its three league games to date.
