A young Derry woman has revealed how she was supposed to be on board the Malaysian Airlines jet which is missing presumed crashed in the South China Sea.
A massive search is ongoing for the Boeing B777-200 aircraft which would have been cruising at about 35,000 feet when it lost contact.
There are 227 passengers and 12 crew on board.
The plane had been flying from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing when it lost communication in Vietnam airspace
Danielle Walsh, who is travelling around Asia, has revealed she was supposed to board the jet in Cambodia but decided to stay on.
The civil servant used social media to reveal she is now fearful of flying home.
On a post on Facebook, she says: “The plane that I was supposed to get on yesterday crashed on the way to South China. It’s still missing and so are the 250 passengers.”
She adds: “Someone was looking out for me and I am glad I stayed. I am afraid to come home now.”
It has emerged two names listed on the manifest of the missing flight match passports reported stolen in Thailand, foreign ministry officials in Rome and Vienna have confirmed.
Italy’s foreign ministry said that an Italian man whose name was listed as being on board the Boeing 777 is travelling in Thailand and was not on the plane.
