Rev Malcolm Ferry has been appointed the new rector of St Augustine’s Church in Derry following Rev Pat Storey becoming the first ever bishop in the Anglican Church.
Rev Storey was consecrated Bishop as the Church of Ireland Bishop of Meath and Kildare in November last.
Rev Ferry said he was looking forward to the challenges his new appointment would bring.
He said: “My years working with the people of All Saints Clooney have been really fulfilling and happy.
“However, I am looking forward to the fresh opportunities of working with the parishioners of St Augustine’s and to the future.”
Bishop of Derry and Raphoe, Rev Ken Good said Rev Ferry would bring “great creativity and experience” to his new role in St Augustine’s.
He added: “He has shown a real commitment to engaging with the local community in Clooney and leaves that parish well placed for the future.”
Rev Ferry served as rector of Castlerock following his theological training in the Church of Ireland Theological College and ordination in 1996.
Married to Carol, a qualified pharmacist, they have three children, James, Sarah and Rebekah.
