A Derry city centre hotel has been listed as one of the top “family-friendly places to stay” in Britain by a leading travel guide.
In a review, The Guardian states the four-star City Hotel is the “ideal family base” for exploring Derry and the “stunning countryside beyond.”
Readers are told it is one of five hotels and B&Bs that will make their family break “feel special.”
“A warm welcome is guaranteed for you and your loved ones at these hotels, B&Bs and campsites,” the review adds.
“Conveniently situated on Queen’s Quay, beside the River Foyle, most of Derry’s historic attractions (including the grand Guildhall and the excellent Tower Museum) are just a short walk away.
“Kids will relish the hike across the Foyle on the beautiful new Peace Bridge, or around the old town on the spectacular city walls. Meanwhile, the Giant’s Causeway is less than an hour’s drive away.
“The City Hotel has a 15-metre indoor pool, a steam room and Jacuzzi, and a well-equipped gym.”
The Derry hotel is the only one from Ireland featured in the review.
Others include The Balmoral, Edinburgh; Marwell Hotel, Hampshire; West Middlewick Farm, Devon; and Langdale in the Lake District.
