A Derry-based coach operator has won a major accolade at the FPTNI (Federation of Passenger Transport NI) Awards.
Airporter, which operates out of Bay Road in the city, came away with the “Coach Operator of the Year: Large Fleet” prize at the FPTNI’s annual gala dinner and awards ceremony held in the Galgorm Manor Hotel, Ballymena.
Some 250 members and guests attended the event which is the only one of its kind for the passenger transport industry in the North.
Awarding the accolade to Airporter, the judge noted: “This is a highly successful company, one of the flag bearers for the independent industry in Northern Ireland.
“Making a highly successful company even more successful is no easy task but that is just what this operator has achieved.
“They have consistently been at the forefront of technological developments in the industry and also the industry that they serve.
“They have changed the company’s philosophy of operation expanding the size of the operation and enabling them to give an even more bespoke service than they were before.
“They have revolutionised their scheduled express service operations offering passengers a much more comprehensive service and they have devolved other sectors of their business to new levels.”
The company has been congratulated by Derry Chamber of Commerce.
