Ebrington Square will be transformed into a Magic Storytelling Garden as part of the Derry’s St. Patrick’s Day Spring Carnival weekend of activities.
The Magic Storytelling Garden will operate from 12.00 noon to 5.00pm tomorrow, Saturday and Monday and will see Ebrington Square transformed into a magical storytelling kingdom of music, myth and magic
Mayor, Cllr Martin Reilly said the Magic Storytelling Garden was a welcome addition to this year’s programme of events scheduled by Derry City Council for St Patrick’s weekend.
He added: “This is a great event for families looking for things to do next weekend in the city and further enhances the fantastic range of activities we have in place for St Patrick’s weekend in the city.”
Karan Leonard, from the Festival’s and Events team at Derry City Council she was confident the programme, being funded by Ilex, would be a “big hit.”
She added: The Magic Storytelling Garden will encourage children and their families to visit a unique world of the magic where they will navigate their way through an eclectic mix of musical experiences, magical characters and mythical tales.
“They will meet dancing faeries, take part in various arts and crafts including basket weaving and mural painting and enjoy all the magical sights and sounds.”
To complement the Magic Garden, there will be animation and music with lots of family friendly activities.
Karan added: “The Magic Storytelling Garden is one of just a number of fantastic events we have taking place over St Patrick’s weekend and we would encourage the public to make a date with Derry this year and be part of our unique celebrations.”
