The Derry member of the world renowned Celtic Thunder has spoken of his sadness at the sudden death of fellow band member George Donaldson.

The 46-year-old Scot died of a massive heart attack at his Glasgow home on Wednesday.

Glee star and fellow Derry man Damian McGinty has also paid tribute to the self-taught musician who was accomplished on both guitar and flute.

Keith Harkin, who joined the band in 2007, posted his tribute on the band’s official website.

He says: “To a dear friend, my days spent with you have been some of the happiest days of my life.

Always remembering the countless inspiring stage performances we shared and, more importantly, the confidences and laughs.

“Holding you close to my heart for the rest of my days.”
