Derry’s James McClean warmed up for Wigan Athletics’ FA Cup semi-final against Arsenal at Wembley next month with two goals for the Latics in their 3-1 away win over Ipswich Town this afternoon.
The former Derry City favourite struck in the 22nd and 77th minutes to move Wigan into a play-off place in the SkyBet Championship.
Wigan are a point ahead of sixth-placed Nottingham Forest and two clear of Reading and Brighton and Hove Albion who are in seventh and eighth places respectively.
Elsewhere today, Donegal man Seamus Coleman scored in the last minute in Everton’s 2-1 home win over Cardiff to keep the Toffees in sixth place in the Barclays Premiership, three points ahead of Manchester United.
