Derry captain Mark Lynch’s performance against Dublin at Celtic Park on Sunday last, in which he scored 1-08, has earned him the title of GAA Player of the Week,
The award is voted on nationally by the general public on social media (facebook and twitter).
Lynch is the second Derry player to win the award this year, Fergal Doherty being the other.
The poll was the largest seen in 2014, the Derry man beating Dubliner Diarmuid Connolly to first place by 43 votes.
The results were as follows:
1. Mark Lynch (Derry) – 959 votes (41%)
2. Diarmuid Connolly (St.Vincent’s) – 916 votes (39%)
3. Jason Doherty (Mayo) – 462 votes (20%)
