Sealed off… Melmore Gardens in Creggan, scene of last night’s shooting.

A street in the Creggan area of Derry remains sealed off this lunch time after a shot was fired into a house in the early hours of this morning.

Neighbours in the Melmore Gardens reported a loud bang in the area at around 1.00am and when police arrived they found a front window of a house had been broken, strike marks on an inside wall and part of a bullet inside,

The house was not occupied at the time.

Police are appealing for anyone who was in the area at time or has any information which may assist them with their enquiries to contact them at Strand Road, telephone 0845 600 8000.

A PSNI spokespersons said information could also be passed anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
