Three Derry people were given conditional discharges when they appeared at the local Magistrates Court today on separate charges of falsely claiming benefits totalling over £8,600.
Adele Gallagher (25) of Ardnamoyle Park, Shantallow claimed Income Support totalling £3,082 while failing to declare employment.
She was given a conditional discharge for two years and ordered to pay court costs of £31.
Maria Porter (47), of Forest Park in the Rosemount area, claimed Income Support totalling £3,021 while failing to declare employment.
She was given a conditional discharge for two years and ordered to pay court costs of £40.
Aiden Devine (37) of Dereen Drive in Strathfoyle, claimed Jobseekers Allowance and Housing Benefit totalling £2,536 while failing to declare employment.
He was given a conditional discharge for two years.
All are also required to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.
