Parents in the Westland Street area of Derry have been called on to warn their children about the dangers of playing around a street light and footpath improvement scheme currently taking place in the area.
The call comes from Sinn Fein Cllr Colly Kelly who said concerns had been expressed about youngsters playing around materials being used in the upgrade.
Cllr Kelly said: “Currently there is an upgrade of street lights and footpaths in the Westland Street area and we have just seen the recent finishing of an improvement scheme at Blucher Street and Lisfannon Park.”
“A number of residents have contacted me concerned about children playing around some of the materials being used for this work.”
Cllr Kelly concluded: “I would just like to make an appeal for parents in the locality to warn their children about the dangers of this on what is one of the busiest road in the city.”
