Derry is bracing itself for yet more job losses – this time at one of the North West’s best known transport companies.
The taxman in the North has secured a court date in a bid to wind up the famous Lough Swilly Bus Company which employs 75 people, 17 in the North including a number in Derry.
The service has been operating between Donegal and Derry for decades.
But now the Revenue and Customs office has put a petition to the courts to have the company wound up.
The case is due to be heard on 3 April next.
Last week, Musgrave cash and carry in Derry announced 12 workers were to lose their jobs as a result of the firm moving its distribution warehouse to Belfast.
The previous week, 30 jobs were confirmed lost as a result of the closure of the Rigney Dolphin call centre in the city.
Last month, 200 workers were made redundant when Dungiven-based utiities maintenance company KPL folded.
