Jazz pianist and 2013 City of Culture “musician in residence” Neil Cowley is set to return to Derry for this year’s City of Derry Jazz and Big Band Festival taking place from 1-5 May next.
He will be staging a musicianship workshop in Nerve Centre’s Music Hothouse which will give young people the chance to get involved in a unique five day programme of intense jamming and mentoring.
The Hothouse will culminate in a showcase performance by the participants on stage in the Craft Village during the festival.

This year’s City of Derry Jazz Festival will be staged across over 60 venues and will feature over 200 musicians such as festival favourites the Jive Aces, Carmen Ghia and Greggi G return.
Among the acts making their first appearance will renowned English folk singer Kate Rusby who will appearing at the Millennium Forum.
