Police in Derry are advising members of the public to be wary if offered a chance to buy jewellery from an unknown source.
The warning comes after two burglaries in the city in the past three days..
Yesterday afternoon, jewellery was stolen from a house at Northland Road.
The break-in was discovered when the owners returned to find their house had been ransacked between 12.30pm and 3.15pm.
The thieves gained entry to the house by forcing a rear door.
Meanwhile on Tuesday last, antique rings valued at around £2,000 were stolen during a burglary which occurred between 8.00am and 7.00pm at a house at Clooney Park West in the Waterside area of the city.
The thieves also got away with a number of electrical goods, including an iPad, iPhone and laptop.
A PSNI spokesperson asked anyone who can assist enquiries into either incident to contact police at Strand Road on the non-emergency 101 number, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
