Police in Derry are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fire at a sheltered housing complex in the city which has left a man fighting for his life in a Belfast hospital.
It is understood the PSNI are following a definite line of inquiry into the incident in which a 32-year-old man sustained serious burns.
The man, understood to be a resident at the Jack Allen Court sheltered housing accommodation in Hawkin Street, was initially taken to Altnagelvin Hospital and later transferred to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast.
Crews from Northland Road and Crescent Link fire stations were called to tackle the blaze which had been extinguished by the time they arrived at around 7.30pm on Wednesday last.
Firefighters administered oxygen to a 55-year-old woman who is understood to have put out the fire.
