City of Derry Spartan Declan Reid and Foyle Valley’s Adrian McGowan were the top Derry finishers at today’s 25th Sparta Omagh Half Marathon.
The race was won Eddie McGinley, of Annadale Striders, Belfast who crossed the finishing line in a time of 1.06.35 with Reid coming fourth.
McGowan also put in a good performance to clinch a top 10 place.
McGinley’s only other outing over the 13.1 mile distance was at the Belfast City Half Marathon last year when he crossed the line in 1.08.20 to claim second place.
Letterkenny AC Olympian Maria McCambridge, a previous winner of this race, won the ladies’ race.
Several hundred runners from Derry were among the 3,000 who lined up for the event, using it as a warm-up for June’s Walled City Marathon.
