Stephen Parkhouse was the hero and villain as ten-man Institute put in a determined performance to keep their title hopes alive with a 3-2 Championship win over Ballyclare Comrades at Drumahoe this afternoon.
A 33rd minute goal by Stephen Parkhouse, who was earlier denied by a great save by the visiting keeper, brought the home side level after Comrades had taken the lead 13 minutes earlier.
Stephen O’Flynn missed a glorious chance to give Institute the lead on the stroke of half-time.
After Parkhouse was sent off for an alleged elbow in the 48th minute, manager Kee replaced Michael McCrudden with Stephen Curry in the 54th minute and within eight minutes Institute were two goals ahead, thanks to strikes from John Curran (60) and Darren McCauley (62).
A penalty brought Ballyclare back into the game but Institute held out for a crucial win.
