Roads Service have been called on to clarify the timeline for the completion of a street lighting programme in Carnhill estate in Derry.
The call comes from Sinn Féin Councillor Elisha McCallion following concerns from residents that the scheme WAS still to completed following KPL being placed into administration.
Councillor Elisha McCallion said “Residents are just looking for a bit of clarity on when the street lighting scheme will be finished.
“They understand the situation about the difficulties there may be getting the job finished in short term but feel it still needs to be completed.”
Cllr McCallion concluded: “The erection and maintenance of street lighting can add confidence to a community .Sinn Féin have been lobbying the Road Service over the past year for an upgrade in Carnhill and other areas as well.”
The new lights will give the residents greater confidence and protection at night and will help combat anti-social activity in the area.
