Young entrepreneurs from Lisneal College, Thornhill College, Limavady Grammar School, Foyleview School and Belmont House School in Derry are celebrating titanic success after taking top prizes at the Young Enterprise Northern Gala Celebration held at Titanic Belfast.
Students from each school spent much of the academic year developing businesses through the Young Enterprise Company and Team Programmes in preparation for the event.
“Bare Necessities,” from Thornhill College, received the awards for Best Social Enterprise of the North West area.
Foyleview School’s “Foybels” took the best Team Programme company award and student Owen Kelly was awarded Team Programme Young Entrepreneur of the Year for the North West area.
Limavady Grammar School’s “Ped-A-Stool” company also received the Innovation award for the North West.
Lisneal College student Mary Thompson took the Entrepreneur of the Future Award for the North West.
“Foybels” will now be entered into the Northern Ireland Company of the Year Final taking place at Belfast City Hall on Wednesday, 14 May next, competing against companies from across the country.
The Gala Celebration, held in partnership with Invest NI, recognised the achievements of young people across Northern Ireland in the Young Enterprise Company and Team Programmes.
The North West area awards were supported by Airporter.
More than 1,500 young people take up the challenge each year with 600 filling Titanic Belfast for the annual awards ceremony.
