A free information seminar is to be held in Derry next week to provide assistance on how to apply for available funding from the Community Relation Councils (CRC) “Cultural Diversity Grant Scheme.”
The available funding pot, provided by the CRC, allows relevant groups to apply for potential funding of up to a maximum of £10,000 each.
The event, being hosted by Derry City Council Community Relations in partnership with the CRC, will take place from 10.00am-12.00 noon on Friday, 11 April on the ground floor of DiverseCity Community Partnership Building, 8-14 Bishop Street.
The CRC’s “Community Relations and Cultural Diversity Grant Scheme” offers grants from £1,000 to £10,000 local groups who submit applications to their new funding round which opened on Monday last.
The funds are available to those groups with projects to improve community relations, promote respect for cultural diversity or for summer intervention projects.”
Mayor of Derry, Cllr Martin Reilly, urged interested groups to attend the seminar.
He said: “Diversity in political opinion, religion and race is something which adds character and vibrancy to our council area and projects which explore this and help us understand and deal with the past and create a better future are vital. It is great to have this money made available locally.”
Sue Divin, Community Relations Officer at Derry City Council said the seminar would outline the work of the CR/CD Grant Scheme and how best to complete applications and returns.
She added: “This seminar will assist groups that are considering making an application to the Cultural Diversity Grant Scheme or for relevant project support.”
The seminar is funded under Derry City Council’s Good Relations Strategy (CRU, OFMDFM).
Tea and coffee will be provided and a number of programme staff will be available to discuss any proposals or questions groups have for the forthcoming year.
Whilst it is possible to turn up on the day, advance registrated is advised before Monday next, 7 April – contact Michaela Devine on telephone 71365151 ext 8221 or email [email protected].
