A GAA club and two Orange Orders in the North West have been granted funding in excess of £26,000 to carry out refurbishment work.
They are among a number of North West groups sharing in a grants windfall to groups across the North of more than £900,000 from the Big Lottery Fund.
Awards for All offers community, voluntary and statutory groups the chance to apply for small grants of between £500 and £10,000 that will have a big impact on local communities and the lives of people most in need.
Eglinton LOL 764 have been granted £8,271 to improve their hall and make it more accessible to users, including people with disabilities.
Edenmore True Blues LOL 644 in Limavady has been awarded £10,000 to refurbish its hall to enable the group to run more events and activities for the community.
John Mitchel’s Gaelic Athletic Club in Claudy will use a grant of £7,990 to provide a community kitchen in the newly restored Cumber House.
Other North West groups granted funding include Bond Street Community Association in Derry which has been awarded £4,493 for a series of events and outings for people of all ages in the Bond Street area.
Roe Valley Friends Indeed in Limavady, which supports women who are living with cancer, has been granted £2,827 to provide a programme of activities and events, including educational trips.
Greysteel Community Enterprises has been granted £8,777 to provide a series of events and activities for the local community and allow ongoing growth and development.
In Strabane, Ardstraw Pipe Band has been granted £9,980 to improve its hall to enable more activities to take place for the community while Ballylaw Women’s Group will use its £1,980 funding to provide craft and dance classes for women between the ages of 18 and 80.
