The heartbroken family of the young Derry man killed in a hit-in-run incident in America on Thursday last are to travel to Boston this week to help with his funeral arrangements.
Eoin McGrory (34), the youngest child of six (three boys and three girls) of John and Theresa, of Earhart Park (originally of Carrabane Walk, Shantallow), died when he was struck by a bin lorry.
A 41-year old man has appeared in court charged in connection with the incident.
Eoin, who had been living and working in the construction industry in the US for the past 16 years, married girlfriend Shanique only two days before last Christmas and had been living in the Chelsea area of Boston.
A keen cyclist, the former Steelstown Primary School and Carnhill High School pupil, had won several prestigious competitions in Boston and was on a training run when the incident occurred at the corner of Cambridge and Spice Streets.
Ricky Prezisoso, a father of three, is charged with leaving the scene of an accident causing death.
Prezisoso, who denies the charge, was released on $5,000 bail and is due back in court again 19 May next.
