Residents in the Northland and Lower Strand Roads area of Derry are being urged to ensure their homes are secure following a spate of burglaries in the area.
Sinn Fein Cllr Mickey Cooper has appealed to anyone with information about the break-ins who contact police.
He said: “Thieves have no respect for you or your property; helping to catch them is the best way of safeguarding your own property and your neighbours. ”
“I would appeal to the public to practice vigilance in the area in an effort to catch those involved and prevent further break-ins.
“I would appeal to anyone with information or who may have seen anything to pass this to the PSNI.”
Cllr Cooper concluded: “People like this cannot be allowed to prey on our community.”
