Pupils from a Derry school are “in the pink” after winning a competition which will see a banner they designed displayed along the route the upcoming Giro d’Italia cycle race.
The Year 11 art class at Limavady Grammar School saw off the challenge of 240 designs to win the “Design a Banner” competition organised by the Department of Regional Development (DRD) Travelwise NI.
Pupils of all ages were asked to ‘Think Pink’ and to design a banner to be used along the route of next month’s event which will feature 200 top professional cyclists from across the world.
The students have now been invited to take part in a school trip to watch the race on Saturday, 10 May.
They also get the chance to display their banner along the route of the prestigious cycling race.
