Derry City go into tonight’s SSE Premier Division clash at the Branywell with bottom club Athlone Town hoping to bounce back from this week’s defeat by Dundalk (kick-off 7.45pm).
Tonight’s visitors have yet to gain a point in this season’s campaign, yet have scored more goals than Roddy Collins’ side – finding the net six times compared to Derry’s three from their six games played so far.
However, Athlone have conceded 17 goals while City have let in six – three of those in Monday night’s 3-0 defeat at Oriel Park.
Derry will be without central defender Ryan McBride who suffered concussion during Monday’s defeat to Dundalk while Barry McNamee remains sidelined with an ongoing knee injury.
Athlone will be without the services of Derek Prendergast who was sent off in Monday night’s defeat by Bohemians.
