An attack on a charity worker in Derry city centre is being treated as a hate crime.
The male worker was assaulted by a gang of men as he collected money outside Richmond shopping centre on Shipquay Street.
The attack occurred at around 3.00pm on Friday last but details have just been released by police.
A PSNI spokesperson said the man, in his early 20s, sustained minor injury when he was approached and assaulted by three males.
The spokesperson added: “Police are treating this incident as a hate crime.”
Anyone who witnessed the incident or who has information in relation to the assault is asked to contact police at Strand Road on the new non-emergency number 101 or alternatively contact independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
