Detectives investigating the murder of 29 people in the Real IRA bomb attack in Omagh in 1998 have arrested a second man.
Joseph Patrick “Mooch” Blair was arrested in Newry.
Blair was named in the House of Commons in 2002 by unionist MP Jeffrey Donaldson as the man who made the bomb.
The PSNI said officers “investigating dissident republican terrorist activity have arrested a 58 year old man in Newry.”
He is being questioned by detectives at the serious crime suite at Antrim police station.
On Friday last, Seamus Daly (43) was remanded in custody charged with 29 murders and two charges linked to the explosion in Omagh when he appeared Dungannon Magistrates’ Court this morning.
Daly, originally from Culloville in County Monaghan, also faced two charges related to an attempted bomb attack in Lisburn, County Antrim, that took place in the same year as the Omagh bomb.
