The Housing Executive is inviting rural community groups to take part in its inaugural Rural Community Awards competition.
Do you have an active community group?
Are you proud of your local neighbourhood?
Is there a thriving community spirit where you live?
Does your community come together to improve their local environment?
Would you like to win £1,000 to make a difference in your community?
If you have answered “yes” to any of these questions and are affiliated to a constituted rural community group, the Execurive would like to hear from you.
In order to help and support local communities in their efforts to make their local neighbourhoods a better place to live, the Executive has initiated a prize fund of £4,000 – four prizes of £1,000.
There are two awards:
The Cleaner and Greener Award
The Community Spirit Award
Within each category there are two prizes, one for villages with population of less than 1,000 and one for populations of 1,000 – 4,500.
The competition is open to all rural neighbourhoods, not only Housing Executive estates.
Acting Rural Coordinator Tim Gilpin said the competition was primarily aimed at rewarding rural communities who had actively engaged in improving the physical appearance of their settlement as well as those who had encouraged and supported community participation in order to improve the community spirit within their rural neighbourhood’.
