Translink is to operate a “full service” to and from the Culmore area, SDLP Cllr Angela Dobbins has said.
Translink along with Lough Swilly has been providing a service to and from Derry city centre but with the latter going out of operation this weekend, concerns had been expressed about future bus services to the area.
However, Cllr Dobbins has said a “full bus service” to and from Culmore will be operational from Wednesday next.
She said: “ Translink have been awarded an extention to their licence and from Wednesday will be able to operate a full service for the Culmore area to and from the city centre. A new timetable will be drafted soon.
She added: “Whilst it is with deep regret that the Lough Swilly service has had to cease operation with the loss of eighty jobs I am relieved to hear that public transport for those who live in rural areas will be catered for.”
