Former Derry City star Stephen McLaughlin finally made his Nottingham Forest debut last night and starred in their 2-0 victory over Leeds United at Elland Road last night.
McLaughlin, who signed for Forest for a transfer fee believed to be in the region of £160,000, created the first goal after just 90 seconds when his through ball was converted by Matt Derbyshire.
However, he’s endured a frustrating time at the City Ground, manager Sean O’Driscoll was sacked just a few months after his arrival from Derry City.
The 23-year-old then fell out of favour with new manager Billy Davis and was farmed out on loan to Bristol City.
The former Finn Harps and Clonmany Shamrocks forward’s progress was also hindered by a number of injuries.
However, the Inishowen man will be delighted that he has finally made his debut and will also be delighted with his performance.
McLaughlin was outstanding throughout, and he will hope caretaker manager Gary Brazil will keep him in the side and help Forest clinch a play-off spot.
Forest currently occupy seventh place in the Sky Bet Championship and are just one point outside the play-off positions.
