The Derry “Londonderry” Doire holds a narrow lead on day four in the race from San Francisco to Panama in the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race.
Less than 10 miles separates the top six on the leaderboard with the Derry Clipper half a mile in front of second-placed Team Garmin.
Skipper Sean McCarter reports “all is well” aboard the Derry entry and that the crew were “recovering well” from illness.
He said: All is well aboard as we speed into the North Pacific proper. We have put 265 miles under our keel since this time yesterday which compared to the last Leg, seemed effortless.
“The crew are recovering well but we are still having to carefully manage our sail changes to coincide with the maximum number of healthy people on deck.
“Our medics, Wendy White and Susie Redhouse, have deduced that the bug is highly contagious.”
