policeAn attack in which a man was knocked unconscious in the Glen area of Derry yesterday afternoon is being treated as sectarian.

The man was walking along the “zig zag” path between Rosemount and the Glen Road at about 3.00pm when he was approached and assaulted by a man wearing a blue hoodie with white laces and grey tracksuit bottoms.

The attacker is described as being approximately 5ft 9ins tall, skinny build, about 19 to 21 years old with short brown hair.

The injured party was called an offensive name and was punched in the face.

As a result, he was knocked unconscious and suffered a swollen, split lip.

A PSNI spokesperson asked with information to contact police on the 101 non-emergency number.

Alternatively, information can be given to the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111
