Owners and managers of commercial or civic properties in the Derry City Council area are being urged to ensure details of keyholders held by their local police are up to date.A bunch of keys

Sergeant Cathal Pearce, of the Foyle City Centre Neighbourhood Policng Team, said polie wanted to make sure details were up to date so property owners could be contacted “in times of need.”

Sgt Pearce added: “This does not always have to be an emergency situation or when a crime has taken place; it may be as simple as calling someone in to secure an unlocked door that one of our patrols has come across.

“We appreciate that for a wide variety of reasons, the keyholders for a property may change through time. This may lead to our lists not being as full or as accurate as we would like.”

He concluded: “We encourage anyone who is responsible for a property to keep us informed of any changes. Additionally, if they are not already on our keyholders’ list, we would encourage them to contact their Neighbourhood Policing Team, or call their local station on the non-emergency number, 101.”
